Why Do You Want To Be Average

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.’” – Martin Luther King, Jr

The Last thing the world needs is another average rapper, teacher, coach, actor, or PARENT (*cough*).  Don't waste your precious time on this planet being average. Nobody cares about average and everybody has something that they can do better then anybody else.  If don't have anything in mind that you want to be great at then the only way to find it is to do something, anything, it doesn't even matter.  Eventually you will find it and then you will have your purpose.  And Everybody needs a damn purpose. The Independent Women Effect

Disclaimer (This is not a diss, merely an observation)

You hear it and see it every day.  Lets face it, the world does revolve around women.  Market wise women have always been looked at as the dominate consumer because traditionally men were the breadwinners of the household and women had a lot of free time outside of taken care of kids.  Relationship wise, women are the ones who want to go out, spend money, yada yada.  Men are either to find a woman they care enough about to go along with the process while still maintaining their manly-ness (yea I made that word up) or live a lonely life because they are unable to realistically coexist with a female partner.

What songs are on the radio? songs about women or made for women listeners.
What about tv? Hell there is even an entire channel for women.
Movies? always a chick flik to watch, and don't get me started about Tyler perry.

Anyway before this gets to long, the point is, I do celebrate independent women, great job ladies, you are awesome.  BUT has anybody ever said, "hey, this is for my independent men"?................no? Me neither.  As more women get accustomed to being captains of their ships and demanding leadership roles, what will happen to the role of men?  It seems as if men today are proud of their women taking them out to eat and paying for everything (that does sound cool tho), the long term affect of this could be men being stay at home dads.  We already have a ton of single mothers raising boys.  I just want my fellow men know that they shouldn't let up.  I don't care if you are homeless, unemployed, selling crack, or pimping...be a man about yours.  Women work hard because they have to, not because its what they want to (excluding the women who really have that competitive spirit and don't plan on having kids, cooking and being a soccer mom the traditional way).  Its not about being sexist, I just don't want to be the only dude watching football instead of real housewife's of Atlanta.

Am I tripping? no

VOTING. MISUNDERSTOOD

Voting, misunderstood

This year, fewer than 40% of voting age Americans will actually vote.
A serious glitch in self-marketing, I think.

If you don't vote because you're trying to teach politicians a lesson, you're tragically misguided in your strategy. The very politicians you're trying to send a message to don't want you to vote. Since 1960, voting turnouts in mid-term elections are down significantly, and there's one reason: because of TV advertising.

Political TV advertising is designed to do only one thing: suppress the turnout of the opponent's supporters. If the TV ads can turn you off enough not to vote ("they're all bums") then their strategy has succeeded.

The astonishing thing is that voters haven't figured this out. As the scumminess and nastiness of campaigning and governing has escalated and the flakiness of candidates appears to have escalated as well, we've largely abdicated the high ground and permitted selfish partisans on both sides to hijack the system.

Voting is free. It's fairly fast. It doesn't make you responsible for the outcome, but it sure has an impact on what we have to live with going forward. The only thing that would make it better is free snacks.
Even if you're disgusted, vote. Vote for your least unfavorite choice. But go vote.

5 Reasons Why Trying to be Successful Will Keep You Poor

Trying to minimize or avoid failure will not help you be successful.
But here’s the thing. Trying to be successful will not help you actually become successful, either.

The problem with success

You’re probably here because you want to be a successful person. You want the material and emotional benefits that come with that.
That’s awesome and I want it to happen for you. But while there’s nothing wrong with success, there are five important reasons why success for its own sake is the wrong focus:

1. Success is a moving target

Be honest, what’s success for you?
  • Is it about launching a product and having people buy it?
  • Is it about having respect from your peers and mentors?
  • Is it about doing what you love so you can care for your family?
Too many people don’t create their own definition of success. They chase an idea they’ve patched together from what they’ve read, observed, or think they should be aiming for.
Do you know the feeling of not being wholly convinced that you’re pursuing the right success for you, but you’ve carried on regardless? That’s not how real success is achieved. Because even if you’re outwardly successful, you’ll feel disconnected from it. Achieving the wrong kind of success will always feel hollow.

Real Talk

"Never say that god never gave you the opportunity to give you whatever you desired"

If you think about it no matter what it is you want right now, there was and still is a chance for you to get it.  Even right at this exact moment.  You want a new car? look in the paper and make a decision. You want a hit single? get yo ass to work on that pro tools. You wanna a beach body? get yo big ass on that P90X.  Any way you put it, somewhere there is a no excuse response.

so what was it that you wanted again?

Nobody ever gets the right impression

We spend all this time preparing, perfecting and getting ourselves together in our eyes so that people recognize and respect what we are projecting and dont get the wrong impression about us.  The thing is, nobody thinks like you. Let me rephrase that, NO BODY THINKS LIKE YOU!  It doesn't matter what you put on, what you say, how you talk or what you want others to see, they will always see what they want to see.  Might as well stop trying to be flawless and just be you, they not gone get it right anyway.

Life is easy, Living is hard

There is a saying that goes "life is only what you make it", well it goes both ways.  Life would be alot more simpler if you simplify it.  Granted that nothing is technically "easy", some people find it hard just to get out of bed in the morning to go to work, while others have no problem.  Kobe can score 20 points with ease while I probably couldn't score 20 on the bulls in the NBA.  What im saying is, its all the extra stuff in life that makes living hard, you got debt, BMW car note, and other things we find a way to blow money on.  How about you try to be humble and simplfy your needs/wants to make you life just a little bit easier.

Smooth Seas do not make skillful sailors

How easy do you think it is going to be?  I hope you face some type of adversity, because if you ever have to compete against someone who has, you are going to lose based on the fact that you have never figured out how much skill you really have.

Most people walk around in their problems. They view life through their perceived limitations. They measure today by what happened yesterday.  DONT DO THAT SHIT. lol
