The Independent Women Effect

Disclaimer (This is not a diss, merely an observation)

You hear it and see it every day.  Lets face it, the world does revolve around women.  Market wise women have always been looked at as the dominate consumer because traditionally men were the breadwinners of the household and women had a lot of free time outside of taken care of kids.  Relationship wise, women are the ones who want to go out, spend money, yada yada.  Men are either to find a woman they care enough about to go along with the process while still maintaining their manly-ness (yea I made that word up) or live a lonely life because they are unable to realistically coexist with a female partner.

What songs are on the radio? songs about women or made for women listeners.
What about tv? Hell there is even an entire channel for women.
Movies? always a chick flik to watch, and don't get me started about Tyler perry.

Anyway before this gets to long, the point is, I do celebrate independent women, great job ladies, you are awesome.  BUT has anybody ever said, "hey, this is for my independent men"?................no? Me neither.  As more women get accustomed to being captains of their ships and demanding leadership roles, what will happen to the role of men?  It seems as if men today are proud of their women taking them out to eat and paying for everything (that does sound cool tho), the long term affect of this could be men being stay at home dads.  We already have a ton of single mothers raising boys.  I just want my fellow men know that they shouldn't let up.  I don't care if you are homeless, unemployed, selling crack, or pimping...be a man about yours.  Women work hard because they have to, not because its what they want to (excluding the women who really have that competitive spirit and don't plan on having kids, cooking and being a soccer mom the traditional way).  Its not about being sexist, I just don't want to be the only dude watching football instead of real housewife's of Atlanta.

Am I tripping? no
